Agricultural Extension and Rural Development
The Department of Agricultural extension was established during the 2021/2022 academic session as one of the foundation departments of the Faculty of Agriculture of the Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba. The programme of the Department is designed to produce graduates with broad based practical and theoretical knowledge in Agricultural extension and rural development.
The programme runs for four years. The first year is devoted to the teaching of courses in general studies and basic sciences. In the second, third and fourth years students are exposed to various courses in agriculture. Students spend most part of their third year in acquiring practical experiences in agricultural extension practice in approve farms, institutions and organizations. In the fourth year, students are taught specialized courses in agricultural extension and rural development. In addition, students must undertake a project on a specified agricultural problem under the supervision of an academic staff.
