History, Strategic and International Studies

The Department of History, Strategic and International Studies commenced operation as one of the three Departments in the Faculty of Arts at the inception of the University in the 2021/2022 Academic Session, on February 25, 2021. This was after the NUC gave approval for the programme to commence following the report of its visitation team to the University, for the purpose of resource verification. The Department started with eight students, admitted through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Now in its second year of existence, the Department has 47 students – 8 and 39, in the 200 and 100 Levels respectively. Since inception, the Department has been headed as follows; i. Mr. Lawson David Gbigbidje (Coordinator) January, 2022 – April, 2022 ii. Dr Oluchukwu Ignatus Onianwa (Coordinator) May, 2022 – February 2023 iii. Prof. Chukwuemeka Ojione Ojieh (Head of Department) Since March 1, 2023.
