Dr Bright Esegbuyota IGERE is a staff of the Department of Microbiology, Dennis Osadebay University Asaba, Delta State Nigeria. He holds a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Fort Hare and, an MSc (Microbial Genetics and Medical Bacteriology) and BTech (Honours; Biotechnology and Genetics) respectively from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Nigeria. He joined the services of Dennis Osadebay University, as Lecturer I on 4th October 2022. Dr Bright has been involved in the teaching and supervision of students Project in both the undergraduate in Nigeria and postgraduate programmes in South Africa. Dr Igere BE likewise hold other certificates in Forensic Science studies, Bioinformatics, Bioentrepreneurship, Biotechnology and Molecular biology and Laboratory safety techniques from notable institutions. He currently serves as faculty representative for Dennis Osadebay University quality assurance Unit. Dr Bright has numerous academic publications (42) in reputable journals to his credit and is a member of many academic and professional bodies which include: America Society of Microbiology (Global Outreach) ASM-200000497, 2019 till date; Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) 2019; South African Society of Microbiology (SASM) 2018; South African Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SASBMB) 2018; Nigeria Society of Microbiology (NSM) 2013; Biotechnology Society of Nigeria (BSN) 2005 etc. He is involved in consultancy services in Genetic/forensic studies and has served as resource person to conferences, seminars and workshops. He has at different occasions served as a Leader and member of various research teams. He’s been recognised with prestigious awards as an emerging/young scientists in Nigeria Young Scientist and German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft)/the World Academy of Science (TWAS). His research focuses on the Forensic, genetics, molecular epidemiology, source tracking of exogenous nucleic acids/gene ecology, bio-molecules of added value, disease and antibiotic resistance determinants and natural product chemistry thematic areas. Dr Bright has enjoyed immense funding support from the National Research Foundation of South Africa (NRF), the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), Govan Mbeki Research and Development Centre and Western Delta University Academic funds. He is currently reviewer of most Elsevier Journals for which he has received various award some of which comes in range of 2000 - 5000 dollar used for active research publications. His collaborations are with the National Research Foundation of South Africa (NRF), the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), Govan Mbeki Research and Development Centre, University of Fort Hare South Africa, Lahor Research Laboratories and Medical Centre, Nigeria. He is currently working on source tracking of exogenous nucleic acids from the environmental water nexus especially as it relates to the ongoing scourge of COVID-19 in the country. Molecular epidemology of infectious pathogens and RNA profiling. Conclusively, Dr Bright is blessed with a beautiful and an amiable wife. Her love and support gives him ambient psychological balance for optimum work performance.
