Pharmacology

The Department of Pharmacology in the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences at Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, is an academic department dedicated to the teaching, research, and advancement of pharmacological sciences. Established in the 2024/2025 academic session, the Department is committed to providing students with a strong foundation in the principles of drug action, therapeutic applications, drug safety, and the rational use of medicines. Our academic programmes are designed to equip students with sound theoretical knowledge and practical skills in pharmacology, while fostering critical thinking, scientific inquiry, ethical practice, and a strong appreciation of the role of pharmacology in improving human health. Through innovative teaching and practical-based learning, the Department seeks to prepare graduates to contribute effectively to healthcare delivery, pharmaceutical research, drug development, and related biomedical fields. The Department is equally committed to developing a vibrant research culture, with research interests spanning areas such as neuropharmacology, toxicology, molecular pharmacology, experimental pharmacology, and other emerging areas of biomedical research. We aim to promote research that addresses relevant health challenges and contributes to evidence-based improvements in healthcare. As a young and growing Department, we envision building a centre of excellence in pharmacological education and research, supported by dedicated academic staff, modern teaching and laboratory facilities, interdisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful engagement with the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.
